Genaveve Starr
Judith (Starr) Dinsmore
Genaveve has been a serious student/practitioner of calligraphy and lettering arts since 1968 when she saw a display of works in a shop window in Seattle. Experimentation with tools and letterforms led to the development of her painting style. Her enthusiasm for lettering continues to this day.
Genaveve has exhibited her work in galleries in the northwest, has executed countless commissions, and has taught many classes and workshops.
Genaveve and her husband, Karl Stokke, have lived in Sequim, Washington for 55 years where they raised their daughter, Mara.
Judith and her husband, Gary, have settled on land in Silverdale, Washington after having lived in their coach RV for over 20 years. They traveled around the country, (in 48 states), were avid bicyclers, served as park hosts in several areas, and attended many blue-grass festivals.
Judith enjoyed knitting and quilting, but because of space limitations in their home on wheels, tatting was the most convenient of crafting. It is difficult to do and requires a great deal of practice.
Tatting is an appropriate pursuit these days as she serves as caregiver for Gary who suffers from Parkinsons.
Judith and Gary have a son, a daughter, five grandchildren, and three great- grandsons.
